[music |Weh, ach wehe! from Tristan und Isolde (Wagner) - p. Kirsten Flagstad]

Just feeling a touch overwhelmed this evening, albeit in the best possible way! Tomorrow I must go in to the call center because I'm interviewing for the management training program. In a way, it's reassuring to have two tremendous opportunities directly in front of me. As I mentioned, though, it's mentally taxing!

Last night was fabulous, though. Todd, Kaddy, Knappy, Diddy, Kyle, Molly, Dan, Krista, Kruer, and I all went to the Avenue and had silly cocktail time. It was a great night all-around - with that crowd would it be any other way??

I'm disappointed that I didn't make it to Pride this year. I was scheduled to go yesterday, but several folks canceled. I planned on going today, but my car battery was dead (and stuck in a parking spot surrounded by cars). I eventually got a jump, but by then it was pouring rain. Hopefully things will work out for this weekend so I can go to Louisville and catch theirs!

I'm headed off to watch my new DVD of Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos (now the third production I own...) with the divine Emily Magee as Ariadne.

Well, I just received word today from the Cincinnati Opera Idol competition that they're finishing up my background check so "that the media can focus solely on [my] voice"!!! In other words, I'm a finalist! It's so exciting after all of these years of struggle to have some affirmation. Even making it this far has given me new motivation to keep pursuing my goal of performing.

I can't begin to describe how I truly feel. It's a unique combination of dread, excitement, joy, and countless myriad emotions. Most of all, I feel tremendously grateful for the opportunity. At least I'm on the path again.

[music |Immolation Scene from Act III of Gotterdammerung (Wagner) - p. Christine Brewer]

Well look at this! I believe this post marks my return to the blogosphere, thanks largely in part to Sean. He had mentioned a few of his entries which prompted me to begin reviewing mine. Now, I'm hooked on the idea of being able to express myself openly and maintain those expressions for posterity! The drug-induced entries were certainly a highlight - unfortunately they will no longer be in abundance.

It was my intention to play some catch-up with what's been happening lately, but how does one cover over two years of one's life in a single entry? That seems overly daunting to me, so just hang in there with me. You'll get the picture eventually.

Scary times! I just finished the opera, which was a complete triumph for me. I've never done a straight-comic role, and I succeeded admirably! Now, however, I must make up the work that I've neglected in my five other classes. The semester ends in three weeks!!! EEEEEEK!

Oh well, I'll get through it somehow - I always do. This semester seems worse than normal. I want to take some time off of school. The thought of continuing to torture myself in this manner is appalling. We'll see, I guess.

I HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE AGAIN! So, call me bitches.

Well, things have been very uneventful for me, which is unfortunate. I've been sick nearly my entire spring break. Consequently, I hadn't left my apartment for three whole days until last night. Even then, I just went to work at the church and back home. I just haven't felt like doing anything. At least today I worked up the gumption to do my laundry and clean up a bit, and tomorrow I'm going out to get hammered. I wanted this break to be relaxing, but sheesh. (Did I just say sheesh?)

Anyway, in more hilarious news, I was on the front page of the paper on Monday last week for whatever reason. They called to do an interview with me, and said they weren't even sure that they were going to run the article. BAM! Three days later there I am (along with Catherine and Lauren) on the front page. Strange, but delightful.

Other than that, not a lot is going on. Mark your calendars for my performance of The Magic Flute, which is on March 31st at 8pm - Greaves Concert Hall (NKU).

Yay! Things have been going pretty well for me lately. I've been mega-busy, but feeling pretty good about the direction things have been headed in lately. School is going great, the weather is finally improving (45 and sunny today!!), and I just got my tax returns last weekend. Of course, most of it is already spent, but it's nice to get a bit of extra money every now and again.

One thing I was not delighted by was American Idol. Okay, I'm not a big TV watcher, but I'm singer, so I feel obsessed with the show usually. Last night, the guys sang and it was, for lack of a classier phrase, fucking terrible. Oh well, I'll find something else to occupy my time. Now that I've finished watching Six Feet Under & Arrested Development, I feel lost. Anyone have any suggestions for shows on DVD that are excellent?

Oh well, I just wanted to pop on for a quick update.

Yikes! It's crunch time for me. I have to finish memorizing the Magic Flute by Monday, and I'm only about 3/4 of the way finished with it. We've been extremely slow at work lately, however, so I'm hoping the same is true tonight so that I can just study there.

Other than the memorization crisis, I'm doing really wonderfully! For some reason, I'm actually ahead on my bills, and the apartment is almost fully furnished! It's exciting. I've also been having a great time playing host; my knack for social grace is paying off after all. I've been playing with all kinds of new friends, and I'm really enjoying my social life. My school schedule is also deluxe; particularly since I added the Drug Policy class with Perilou Goddard - amazing.

Well, I'm off to fold my laundry before work. Happy Houswife!

So, in exchange for my semester being early, I decided to make it much easier. Instead of taking the Physics of Music and Sound class that I was signed up for, I switched to a 100 level American History course. I've decided that I'm just going to pursue a history minor instead of the speech communications minor I was planning on. I like history better, anyway.

This means that I only have two classes on MWF! Hooray! And, although one is at 8am and one is at 2pm, that leaves plenty of room for a several-hour nap. Deluxe.

Ryan and I went and spent over $200 at Target on Saturday. We bought so many cute things, our apartment looks a million times better. I'm really starting to love living there - everything about it is great, for the most part.

Well, I'm off to take my multi-nap. Until next time...

Okay, so the rent issue was resolved that night. But, now my DVD player was stolen. Ryan took it with him to his boyfriend's house, and it was stolen out of his car. It just seems like one issue after the other, and I certainly don't have the finances available to fix his mistake, so basically I'm pissed. The worst part is that I can't act pissed, because his window got smashed out. While I do feel badly for him, it's the last time that something of mine will leave the apartment in another person's hands.

So, it's really unbelievable that Christmas is just three days away. Fortunately, I finished up my Christmas shopping today. I'm excited, because I'm getting lots of luxe things for my apartment.

Like Kaddy, I'm not even sure where to begin catching up my journal. This lack of internet access is killing me.

Freak-out! I just got a notice from our office that our rent was not paid this month. The curious thing is that I gave my roommate the money for our rent the day before it was due, and I thought it had been taken care of. I woke up to find this letter under our door that basically states if it's not paid by Thursday they're evicting us!

EEEEEEK!

I just moved in like two weeks ago, so this doesn't really work for me. The worst part is that I can't talk to Ryan until I go into work today, since he's there too. That means that I won't have an answer until 4:30 or so, which is freaking me out to the extreme!

I'm nervous!
